photo by my friend carolina So about half of my friends call me by a shortened version of my name which I loathe (the name, not my friends, that is). But I deal, right? Anyway, a friend just shared this photo that she took with me. Fucking hilarious.

embarrassing beyond belief.
Well, this is maybe embarrassing, but Kim posted a few excerpts from her old livejournal to mark her 1,000th post on her new blog, and I went and looked back at my own and read back for a while. I was thinking about sharing it, but not sure, but then I found nineteen year-old me’s top-five list of animals which was: 1. cows 2. pandas 3. highland cows 4. puffins 5. hippos, maybe. I was so...

photo by out of print clothing Goodness, why am I so want-y lately? But really, I very much want this. Oh, so lovely. So perfect. So cozy. I think wearing it would make me very happy. Aw.

I’ve been reading Arnie’s blogs for years now (older ones here, here, here, and here), and he’s one of my absolute favorite bloggers. Seriously great. He and his wife got married a few months ago, and he just posted her vows. Absolutely perfect: “Arnie, I’m going to say this and you will know exactly the compliment that it is. Before I met you, I thought I was the stupidest...
I hope to never date/be/love anyone who uses the phrase “shoot me/you an e-mail.” Ew. Dry heaving just thinking about it.

australia: beaches
Australia is very much known for its beaches, but as I stayed in the south in their winter, it was far too cold for sunbathing/swimming/etc, but I still made the trip to a couple of beaches. Sydney’s famed Bondi Beach. Having grown up so close, it’s always nice to see the ocean when I travel. St. Kilda beach, in the south of Melbourne, had a cute little lighthouse. It also had the...

I have loved English Bull Terriers for a very long time. This one is no exception. Also, I made friends with two dogs outside of a coffeeshop today. I will consider this day a Good Dog Day. If only I was grown-up enough to have one of my own.

This is like that Project Runway challenge where they make clothes from food, but 10000x better. Absolutely amazing. Click for more. I eat a lot of Chinese Eggplant, and I wouldn’t mind wearing it, too, if it looked like this: by Song Yeonju

my top five favorite animals
Okay, I’m starting my top-five lists. First, animals. I’m leaving dogs out, because I decided to. It’s so nice to be able to do what I want. 1. Cows. Because, duh. 2. Panda bears. I only recently—like maybe the last three to four years, got really into panda bears, but they’re super cute and I can draw them. 3. Pigs. I really like farm animals in general. See, e.g.,...

This is pretty much me watching tv, but with tea instead of pepsi and rice instead of chips, and, hey, it would be nice if I could be a puppy instead of a cat. Also, I do not have a tv. But you get the idea.

I found this in my notes from early in the semester for Environmental Law: Federal law can permit burdens on commerce - Constraining commerce is a power the federal government has. Commerce Clause doesn’t say federal government can’t fetter commerce. Way to write the same thing three times, self. Oh jeez.
god fucking damn it
So a friend posts a picture of a cute, young-ish boy on facebook and adds a comment. I’ll let the conversation do the talking: c: Happy Birthday to my awesome big little brother! 18 years today, you were named after the prince in The Little Mermaid. You’re welcome. Love, me: omg hes legal and kinda a babe. dont hate me. c: He’s 14 in this picture. But I still love you :) maybe...

In an unusual—for me (three cheers for being a young caucasian woman, I guess)—turn of events, my bag got pulled at the security checkpoint. I scrambled into my boots and headphones and met the TSA agent at the screening area. He fished through my bag and pulled out a quart of quinoa my mom had asked me to bring home. TSA guy: What’s this? Me: Quinoa. TSA guy: blank stare Me:...

australia: books
I wanted to do a few very belated posts on my trip to Australia. I’ve divided them by subject rather than location. Here’s some photos of bookstores I visited in Australia: A bookstore in Katoomba had a whole wall of Penguins. I loved the shades of orange together. I ducked into the bathroom of a cute bookstore/cafe (my dream!) in Bondi Beach. The walls were papered with pages from...
I think this is what I would look like if I were pretty.
I feel mostly happy for people that were really nerdy in high school, but now being pale, balding, and kinda chubby works out for them because they can wear skinny jeans and cardigans and dj at hipster clubs and be sort of popular.

the district
Okay, I don’t think I can actually call it the district because I don’t live there. Goddamn. But anyway, can y’all believe I’m actually getting a legit post up? I can’t. Here’s a few pictures from my trip to DC last month. I’m hoping to post one more set in the next few days. Aside from my seriously bad escalator anxiety, I really really love riding the...
Online shopping, you are one sassy bitch. So hard to resist. I hate and love you. I am buying myself presents everyday. No bueno. But what I really want to know, is who sorts results by price, high to low? (Proud low-to-high’er over here.)

I have sort of a problem, in general, with affectations, especially when people purposefully adopt slang used in other countries or regions. Dear United Statesians that say “cheers,” and “mate,” and “bloody:” It’s fucking stupid. Love, me. That said, there’s just one that I’m dying to use. And I do in my mind, anyway. Fuckin’ ladders....

Things that rule: Finally, finally treating yourself to something you’ve coveted for a very long time. I had my eye on these headphones for nearly a year and finally decided to buy them a couple of months ago. I’m in love. I get a lot of comments, mostly complimentary, but when haters hate, I just turn the volume up. Easy peasy.

Quelle cute, but it’s now been sitting on my neighbor’s stoop (and, ergo, mine) for three weeks. Gettin’ a little nasty, y’all. There comes a time when pride turns to vanity, and at that time, it’s probably best to put the rotting pumpkin in the trash. We’ve all seen it.

I finally went through the photos I took in DC when I was there last month. I have vague designs of posting some here (and some from Australia. ha), but I’m sort of in love with this shot so I thought I’d share it now in case I don’t get to the rest. I am officially the worst blogger ever. This was taken at Capitol Hill Books, a semi-disorganized and claustrophobic (and, of...

So last week American Apparel sent a 20% off offer to their mailing list. There are a few things I want (tights, a jersey pocket skirt, maybe a pair of thigh-high socks). So I went in ready to buy, but I found I couldn’t do it. Even at 20% their prices are sort of ridiculous for what their products are. Everyone knows the company is having major financial troubles. And I think it’s...

I have a little bit of weirdness about my college experience, as far as the social aspect goes. I didn’t have a ton of friends in college and have kept in touch with virtually—maybe actually—no one from college. I honestly feel mostly okay about that. I always felt the same way about camp, too. There were kids who lived for summer camp. I had an okay time, but by the end of the...

If I could invent a contest that I was guaranteed to win, I think it would be a contest for a pair of each of Anthropologie’s current legwear offerings. Totally in love with their tights and leggings. And y’all, I am so making good on my plan to get better about wearing tights and skirts… I haven’t worn pants in a few weeks and it’s totally rad. Lovely. That said, I...
