snow!
It snowed again a few weeks ago and I went for a Saturday snow-walk. Someone outside my building had made the snowman and snowpup, which I thought was super cute. Snow is really lovely, and when it doesn’t ice over, it’s not that much of a pain.

the only subject is love
Saw Salman Rushdie yesterday, along with Christopher Hitchens and Deepa Mehta, at a symposium celebrating the opening of Rushdie’s archives at Emory. What an amazing experience to listen to such brilliant people speak. Midnight’s Children is honestly one of the greatest books I’ve ever read and I felt so inspired to listen to the author speak. (By the way, Rushdie was wearing...

Photo via Anne Sage. Lovely pictures of a Canadian home over at Anne Sage. I really couldn’t decide which photo to post. Click click.
Photos via style me pretty. Destination engagement shoot? Oh my gosh. Might be a little bit of excess, but the photos sure are beautiful. Scampering around ruins in Belize? Awesome. I just started reading Style Me Pretty because I frankly can’t get enough of weddings, but the ones they feature tend to be a little too traditional for me. Lovely, certainly, but so normal.
London
Photo by the Sartorialist. This kills me. Fashion is so hard for me, and the people featured in the Sartorialist make it look so very effortless.

things i like lately, volume seven
- Arrested Development! Finally started watching it and I kinda can’t stop. - Eggplant, pretty much every day. - Weekly produce shopping at Dekalb Farmers Market with a friend. - The City Sage and Unhappy Hipsters. - East Atlanta Village - The hope of spring. We had a lovely weekend, and I’m very hopeful for the coming months. - Daydreaming, as always. - Feeling better.

a terrible little secret
Because I have to tell someone: I don’t think kittens are cute, at all.
Photograph by the Sartorialist. Oh, wow. This is phenomenal.
on worrying
Does anyone else find themselves worrying about the state of other people’s—even strangers’—relationships? I don’t know why it is, but if I perceive anything that seems like a crack in a couple’s bond or a potential problem lingering beneath the surface, I worry for them so very much. When one of my favorite bloggers mentions that her husband expects a perfect...

yitta schwartz
Neat article on Yitta Schwartz, a recently-deceased Hasidic Jew who, with fifteen children, 200+ grandchildren, and perhaps thousands of great-grandchildren, had more than 2,000 living descendants. There was a similar large Jewish family in Tampa; it seemed like everywhere you went you were running into members of their family. I always thought that would be nice. Mrs. Schwartz was a member of...

chocolate-covered cookie dough
Photo from love and olive oil. So, let’s just say that I made these this weekend and they were really fucking amazing. I’m using the f word, they were so great. I shared just a few with friends, but I’m keeping most of them for myself. Mmmmm. By the way, love and olive oil is a super great blog, one of my new favorites.

Image via infrastructurist. Oooh, y’all. It’s so cool to live somewhere that counts as one of the Big Cities. And I’m feeling just a little smug that I’m one of the lucky minority that commutes on foot.
Photo via bits and pieces. This one’s dedicated to my boy Michael Waskom, because he really, really loves tacos.

Photo via cute overload. The weather was absolutely gorgeous today so went and walked around the park. Tons of people were out and so many of them had DOGGIES! I was going nuts. Saw four wheatens and nearly died of cuteness each time. I wish I had enough time/maturity to get a pup.

Photo via tralalere!. Ahh! Too cute. My dream date for a little while was to go for a walk and picnic in the park near my house, maybe to sit in the grass and play a little game of scrabble. I’m upping the ante despite my lack of prospects, and dreaming a boy will take me to Zoo Atlanta to see the pandas. A girl can dream.
Photo via mocoloco. Jaga makes colorful radiators for kids’ rooms that use less water and weigh less than usual radiators to save energy. Mostly I just love the photo, to be honest.

scene in a starbucks
Super awkward, but kinda cute, professor-student flirting going on one table over. He’s her film professor, she’s gussied up and well-accessorized with a Burberry scarf and fascinator. They finished talking about his edits for her paper (on Fight Club!), and now they’re discussing their favorite films, awkward pauses in between. Maybe they’ll be valentines?
