Can’t… stop… reading… Murakami… Seriously, that’s almost all I’ve been reading this summer. If I can get my hands on everything he’s written that’s been translated into English, I’ll read it all. I feel like I know his soul, and I really love seeing the recurring themes and motifs.
This is all I’ve got, sorry. This boy stopped by, unannounced. (Boys, don’t do that.) We hadn’t talked for months. He broke my heart, but I realized tonight that in the end, I “won.” Every relationship has winners and losers in the end, right? Usually it doesn’t feel good to win, to make someone else feel bad or know that things turned out better for you, but...
my one favorite gif
via that white bitch. Aw, Obama. Quelle precious. Edited because Cookie Monster turned into an old dude threesome, and no one likes that.
things i'd like to tell my 17 year-old self
Amazing post on Hula Seventy. A few favorites: 8. diet coke is not the answer. 11. in a few years, you’re going to get a letter from that girl you stood up for in P.E. class. you thought what you did didn’t really mean anything to her but it did, it really did. her letter will make you cry and you will be glad you took on the mean girls. 21. take bigger risks. because I promise, you...

beds beds beds
source I have kind of a thing for beds. Whenever I see one, on a movie or in pictures or at a department store, all I want to do is get in bed, my own or otherwise. (I’m actually blogging from bed right now, and it’s heavenly.) My last year of college, I think I must have spent about eighty-percent of my time in bed. So naturally I flipped over a super great bed compilation post here.
photo via book lovers never go to bed alone.
photo by josh goleman via once wed. Jeez, I’m actually really feeling this shorter-in-the-front dress. Super cute wedding over at Once Wed.
Oh yes I did. So good. I would never really have thought to buy myself a watermelon, or a part thereof, but for just over a dollar, it was a nice little treat. Summer is the best.
This book really loves me. XOXOXO right back at you, bud.
via cg society. Ooooh.
word of the day!
Just learned a new word, hooray! Postprandial - occurring after a meal. (Also preprandial - occurring before a meal.) Mainly used in a medical context, but I think I’ll try to work it into my own vocabulary. Example: I am in postprandial bliss after a few servings of a delicious massaman curry. (Made it myself!)
Cool clouds, poolside.
Finally made it downtown to have a veggie burger at Grindhouse Killer Burgers. It was super tasty. There was a street food event with a bunch of food carts, and I got a little wild with a Korean tofu taco, pineapple habanero popsicle, before heading inside the market for a veggie burger. Awesome.
photo by brooke holme Perfect. Seriously, perfect.
photo via design*sponge. Oooh, how perfect is that cloud mosaic? And the little stack of books? Yup.
photo by sarah drake design. Hellooo, lovely outdoor bed number two.
photo via the kitchn. Wish that dude would get out of the shot, but, be still my heart, green chalkboard paint? Really? Swooooon.
photo by simply bloom photography via green wedding shoes. I’ve seen photos of a lot of weddings, y’all. I’m a little embarrassed about my wedding obsession, but I think it’s basically out there, so whatever. And at a point, they all start to look the same, and some ideas are way overdone and it’s lovely, but I’m a little bit harder to impress now. At first I...
photo by hanna hosking via once wed via polka-dot bride. Ooooh. Freaking amazing dress; a long, simple slip covered by a sheer peachy layer and wrapped with a chartreuse sash. Wowww.
'alone in a crowd'
photos via mocoloco. !!!!! Woah. This table has 511 little figures beneath the glass top, in a crowd, yet alone. I’m not so sold on the symbolic importance of their aloneliness within the horde of people, but it sure is neat to look at.
photo by ben blood via rock n roll bride. I’m a grump and a half lately, mostly about boys, so I’m trying to just focus on how cute this is rather than imploding over my own shiz.
photo by lytlephoto via rock n roll bride. Oooooh, outdoor bed. So dreamy.
I really love buying books—I like owning them and collecting a library—but I’m trying to watch my $’s and my $AUD, so I’m doing the library thing this summer. On the bright side, library books have a history and a story to them. It’s neat to think of all of the people who have read the same copy book before. I’m still on a Murakami kick, and I’m...
I have a dream.
Hey, pretty doggy. Sometimes he looks sad. I really hope he isn’t.
source Quelle cute. I love the title on this picture: “somewhat depressed cairn terrier.” Some dogs look sad a lot of the time, I wonder if they really are?
Guy in a meeting at Starbucks: “I’m gonna have a snobby moment here, excuse me.” (Pulls out iPad, pretends to use it as a phone, and then holds up his iPhone with his other hand). DREAM BOY.
Went to the library and checked out tons of books. Yesss. Reading is fun, y’all. I am devouring books, it’s so awesome.
Too flippin’ cute!
From a New York Times article on grade inflation at law schools: James Wagner, the hiring partner at the 29-lawyer Boston firm Conn Kavanaugh Rosenthal Peisch & Ford, said he hadn’t noticed any grade inflation in the last couple of years. But he has noticed something else new from applicants. “About a third to half of the résumés I’ve been getting now profess a love of the Red Sox,” he...
I really love this dog. (Pardon my state of semi-undress, I was just back from a run. My bad.)
I’ve been getting tons of spam comments here lately. I’m always excited when I get a comment notification, but it’s invariably spam (and in Chinese). I finally decided to google-translate some of the comments before deleting, and at least they’re kind of sweet, if not a bit esoteric and irrelevant to the original post: Thank you for sharing, I wish you a colorful life...
the non-love way
Hello, story of my life: friend: oh, where are you going? me: australia! friend: oh cool with who? me: solo! im excited friend: ooh cool sounds adventurous and romantic in the non-love way
How cute is this little dude? Awww.
the feeling of surrender
In Princeton, Mr. Brick said, “there was no romance between us.” Of the performer’s dream, Mr. Brick laughed it off as “really weird.” Nevertheless, the performances ended and the yearning began. Mr. Brick recalled contacting Ms. Matsushima and telling her, “I really miss being with you and hanging out with you.” So a get-together was arranged in New York. “We didn’t really date or anything,” Ms....
I didn’t mean for this to coincide with father’s day, but it works out nicely, I suppose. I really love hipster dads. They’re so freaking cool! Here’s some photos of hipster dads scoured from el internet: source source source source source source
Went on an epic, like seriously long, walk back from the bar with a few friends. Found this sign along the way. Hmmmm? I’m dying to be able to teleport—free travel!—so I may have to stop in.
Damien and I met on a sunny Sunday afternoon at a quaint San Diego outdoor cafe, called Cafe 976. I was reading and love the sun, so i kept moving tables to stay out of the shade. As the hours passed by, i moved about 5 tables, always moving towards Damien. After several hours, his was the only table left in the sun, and Damien asked me to join him… Talk about meeting cute. (He proposed at the...
So I just watched the X-Men movies for the first time, and I’m actually really into them. (Wolverine and Rogue are definitely soulmates, y’all!) I’m just now realizing this must be a Michigan State car, but I was mostly excited to see a Wolverine bumper sticker. My bad. I really hate U Michigan though, so yeah, fuck the wolverines.
Out over left field, beyond the Chik-Fil-A cow (yes!) and giant coke bottle, you can see the downtown skyline. I really love it.
Holy heck, how good does vanilla lemonade sound? Here’s the recipe, from stetted. 1 1/2 cups water 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 vanilla bean, split 8 lemons (yielding 1 cup juice) Cold water to fill pitcher In a small saucepan, bring water, sugar, and vanilla bean to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Press vanilla bean in order to let caviar escape. Cover and let cool. Juice lemons, and...
My parents came into town for a couple of the games and for the weekend. The Rays lost the second two games, but we still had fun. Turner Field is gorgeous.
The game didn’t end until one a.m. I was exhausted, but it was a fun romp over the Braves, and I made it onto the telecast in Tampa not once, but twice! It was a fun, but super long night and—long story—it ended with me sobbing in the back of a cab.
photo by jason and anna. Wedding photographers with a picture of a cow on their blog…. Hmmm, they might be my photo-soulmates. Also, no joke, at a Yelp event a few weeks back I met someone who was like, oh hey you’re the girl that blogs about cows, aren’t you? If I had to be known for something…
Cutecutecute! I have neither an iPhone (boo!), nor a child (thank the baby heysus), but this is nevertheless pretty freakin’ adorable. Oh, Japan. So clever and whatnot.
photos via apartment therapy. Ooh la la.
The Papervore from Pigeontail Design on Vimeo. I really love this shredder-cum-coffee table. Unfortunately, I’m guessing it’s rather dear as it’s “call for pricing.”
eat and bleat
photo via style me pretty. I’m basically in love with this rehearsal dinner. Seriously, if this was the rehearsal, what the heck must this wedding have looked like? A-freakin-mazing. (The only thing I don’t like about the photos, really, is the too-perfect kid in a seersucker jacket, collar popped. Kids in super fashionable, grown-up clothes really bothers me. Let them be young! And...
