Hey Internet, here’s a present for you: Seriously, the most hilarious person everrrr. Check this amazing gem: I’ll take, “Why I don’t speak to people,” for 500 Family friend’s much younger daughter: Hey Christine? Can I ask you a… personal question? Me [after the longest pause in the world]: Sure. FFMYD: Do you like putting tampons in? I laughed for, like,...

If a boy ever played this for me, oh my goodness: And she was the kind of girl who you would give up eating meat for No more salami, no more steak and potatoes Yeah you would walk on down to the health food store And buy hummus and tabouli and babaganoush And ricecakes, ricecakes, ricecakes

new music monday: one gem
Simply, beautiful. And for once, I’m talking about the music and not the man. Although… This stopped me in my tracks.’ I really do download tons of new music on Mondays. Fun new tradition! Anything to share?

I’ll let y’all in on a little secret. Here’s how I charm the gents. Random boy at the bar: You smell nice. Me: I took a shower. Boom. I got back from Australia a few days ago. Unfortunately my air conditioner has been on the fritz since my return and it’s too hot to do anything, including blogging. I’ll be back soon with photos etc.!

Baby jesus, bless Target. Twenty hangers, in my favorite hue, for two bucks. Yessss. Maybe I can finally stop throwing clothes all over the place because I don’t have enough hangers. Then again, maybe not.

My long day, a companion to my lost day. Super fun thirty-eight hour day. I rang it in drinking vodka and soda’s at a club in Sydney, then got on a plane hungover at nine a.m. Sydney-time, flew for about nineteen hours, arrived in Atlanta around three p.m. EST, went to dinner and watched my friend re-string his guitar (pictured), and then went out in Atlanta. I’m a beast.

Last full day in Australia. I was back in Sydney for the day and revisited my favorite spots, including—of course—the harbour.

This has been true since I learned to walk but deserves repeating, here in Sydney: SLOW WALKERS ARE THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE. People with little legs or babies or whatever, it’s understandable. But what’s with hot dudes being awful pedestrians? We can’t hang if you’re too slow, boo. I’m all for an idea like this, but for slow and regular-paced walkers. I guarantee you...

I have an impeccable sense of direction—it’s probably one of my favorite things about myself. I got lost looking for the contemporary art museum in Melbourne, though, and I got completely frustrated. However, I did come across this rad building. Unfortunately most of the road was barricaded because of ongoing construction so it was hard to get much of a shot of it.

In Melbourne, I stayed in Fitzroy, a cool “artsy” neighborhood with good food, fun bars, and expensive boutiques with super cute clothes. I’m really glad I stayed there even though it was a bit of a walk into the city center.

Aw, yeah, kid, I fuckin feel you: This tiny child, maybe seven or eight, was walking down the street maybe ten feet in front of his family, the whole time repeating, in this incredulous tone: The koalas, the koalas. Finally saw koalas today. Too freakin cute!

I went to Healesville Animal Sanctuary, a super awesome spot a couple of hours outside of Melbourne. I saw tons of cool animals, and I was lucky enough to see a koala—not this guy—crawling around and munching on eucalyptus. I was so stoked, and I kept my eye on him for a while as other visitors came and went. This is a different koala who was huddled, but exposed in the rain. Poor...

Markets are one of my favorite spots to visit. Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market was great. It even had a separate organic section, which I was all about. Somehow, when I’m traveling, visiting a market makes me feel really grounded and sort of at home. It’s kind of neat.

I trekked out to Sublime Point just on the basis of the name. It wasn’t really an established walk or trail at all—I figured out the way on a map and then made my way there on foot. It wasn’t a great walk, mostly down roads, but the view was indeed very nice.

Rainy day. I spent the morning reading in a coffee shop and then ducked into cute shops on Katoomba’s main street in the afternoon. I really loved Katoomba, and stayed longer than I had planned to. This photo doesn’t do it justice, but the town itself—in addition to the spectacular views of the Blue Mountains, is just lovely.

So, “bushwalking” sounds a whole lot cooler than “hiking,” am I right? I broke all the rules yesterday and went hiking—sorry, bushwalking—alone, without food or water, and without telling anyone where I was going and when I expected to be back. Certified badass.

You don’t sleep that well in a hostel. People come in all hours of the night, they turn on the light, usually they’re drunk, and noisy. (Somehow I still feel bad making any sound at all when I’m invariable up in the morning before my fellow backpackers.) Anyway, I can sleep through a lot, but last night, around three a guy is talking in his sleep, for a while. I wake up and...

I went into the craziest bookstore ever, in the Newtown neighborhood of Sydney. There were books everywhere… on the shelves, but also just piled up on the floor and in boxes. I loved it, but I could see OCD-types freaking out. It was hard to find much of anything, though.
