LATE FRAGMENT And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so? I did. And what did you want? To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth. The above is inscribed on Raymond Carver’s tombstone. It’s lovely, and it feels especially apropos given the day. Happy new year, darlings. I hope it’s a good one for us all.

Last night: I woke up in my hostel bed (top bunk) in Barcelona in the middle of the night. A large Samoan man—no shirt, huge belly, lots of tats—was standing right next to my bed, looking at me. There wasn’t much of an expression on his face, but I freaked. I hissed my brother’s name, hoping he would wake up in the bunk beneath mine. He said, yeah? I told him to stand up...

Hate Actually →
This “critique” of Love Actually is totally adorable. Love Actually is totally adorable. In fact, probably my most favorite thing about the winter holiday season is watching Love Actually with a cup of hot tea and a cuddly blanket. For real, is there anything better than the movie Love Actually? (Answer: No.)

If I ever get married:
My profile picture will be a cute profesh photo of me looking fly in a cream-colored dress for a couple months after the big day. It should be an official Facebook rule: A picture from your wedding can be used as a profile picture for, like, three months maximum. I don’t think anyone ever looks hotter than they do on their wedding day. It’s totally unfair to misrepresent yourself as...

Anonymous asked: How tall are you? (i think we may be around the same height and want to know if the pictures of your outfits would be fitting to me as well) (they're really great!)

One weird thing about our generation is that everyone is so blasé about their sunglasses. Do you know what I mean? Kids are always giving away their sunglasses, or trading with their pals. I’m not talking about cheap pairs, either. Ray-bans, y’all. Oakleys. I finally got my paws on my dream sunglasses and I would never ever ever swap them, or give them to a friend. (Sorry, friends.)

Swedish photographer Camilla Engman’s sweet doggy Morran passed away recently. Morran has featured prominently in a lot of Ms. Engman’s work, and has popped up on this blog in the past because she was the cutest. Uppercase made this short tribute video celebrating Morran’s life.
