Today Chinese author Mo Yan was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. His pen name means ‘Don’t Speak’ in Chinese; it’s a reminder not to say too much given the political climate in China. The Academy draws comparisons to Gabriel Garcia Marquez and William Faulkner. I think I’ll pick up a copy of Life and Death are Wearing Me Out on my way home today. Has anyone read Mo Yan?
